The Five Animals

About this artwork:

This painting is a gift to my cousin and close friend. He recently obtained his life long dream of owning and teaching at his own karate studio. The original now hangs prominently in the dojo.

The Animals represent the styles of karate that he specializes in.
They are as follows:

Dragon with yin yang symbol - Spirit
Snake (Cobra) - Speed
Leopard (Chinese Leopard) - Stealth
Crane - Grace
Tiger - Strength

The Chinese lettering in the top left hand corner roughly translates as "The Five Animals".

Fantastic! Captures the essence of the five animals in Kempo. Beautiful!

  Ms. Kemp,

You demonstrate an extraordinary creativity with the artistic flair of "The Five Animals." There is perfect balance of each animal in relation to one another, and the yin-yang bears the honor of the center exotically.

Full marks!

  This is a beutifull Piece,

I am a long time student of the martial arts and have never seen a better rendering of the FIve Animals. I especially liked the way you encluded Yin & Yang in the Body of the Dragon.

You are indeed a very talented artist.
