A Faceless God

About the artwork:

This painting was inspired by the story The Facesless God by Robert Bloch. Who in turn was inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Bloch is best known as the author of Psycho.

The story depicted Nyarlathotep as a black statue in the Egyptian desert in which an entire expedition met their death trying to recover it.

It is interesting that, aside from the "egyptian" motif with the horns and the ball, this is a fairly accurate representation of an adult male "hastur's Hawk". It's good to see that someone is dreaming "straight"., and better than the typical "night ghaunt'. The creature im "nightmare's Master" is obviously a deranged and lost juvenile of the same species.
