Nefris - Egyptian Mummy

Nefris

About this Artwork

This is Nefris, a mummy character of mine who's lover (deceased) was a priest of Anubis.

This is a new style and technique for me. I was trying to emulate Erte', a fashion and graphic designer from the 20's and 30's. This was a time when Art Deco was all the rage. Erte's style was very flat with the barest of shading. He used mostly lines and shapes to convey depth. His backgrounds were mostly non-existent, but sometimes he added a design element or two. His subjects were long and lean, much like the skinny flapper girls that were in vogue at the time.

I lost a lot of cool details when shrinking this piece down. You can see a few close ups by clicking here.
